Scartichthys gigas, known commonly as the giant blenny in Peru and the United Kingdom,[2] is a species of combtooth blenny in the genus Scartichthys.[3] It is found in the eastern Pacific ocean, from Panama to northern Chile.[3] It was named by Franz Steindachner in 1876,[4] and can reach a maximum length of 22.2 centimetres.[3] Blennies in this species feed primarily off of plants (including benthic algae and weeds), crustaceans, and small mollusks,[5] and are minorly commercial in fisheries.[3]
